Scotland update

We travelled up to Scotland on Tuesday, stopping for lunch at the truckstop at Tebay. We stayed at The Erskine Bridge Hotel just outside Glasgow and on the banks of the Clyde. As we had a night off, we entered the pub quiz in the hotel bar and managed a creditable third place (all the football questions were about Scottish teams and players).
Tomorrow we're off to Aberdeen.

Scotland here we come!

Yesterday was a rest day so I took the opportunity to get a few things sorted before I went into the studio with Sarah Elliot to mix some more of her album. Later this morning I'll collect the rest of the band and meet up with Mike, Willie and Nina before the drive up to Glasgow. We have a night off and then we'll play The Music Hall in Aberdeen on Wednesday, The Town Hall in Rutherglen on Thursday, The Rothes Halls, Glenrothes on Friday and finally the Theatre Royal in Dumfries on Saturday night.
Catch ya later!

Boston Sunday night

Sunday's concert was in a tiny theatre (compared to the Fairfield Hall) in Boston. We set up slightly differently and changed a few things in order to avoid any repeat of the technical gremlins that plagued the previous show. I arranged with the venue manager to have a few photos taken and these are from the second half of the show. (I hope to have some shots of the first half later this week).
The wind and rain may have put a few people off from coming out to the show but for those that did attend it was a great night. The band rocked and swung and both Willie and Nina were on top form. It's going to be a great tour!

Tour update Monday

We have a day off today so it's a chance to catch up. Friday's concert at the Fairfield Hall was marred by a few technical hitches. Richard's monitors packed up and I had to turn my speaker around so that he could hear himself play. The stage was enormous and I wasn't quite close enough to Cosy's drums to feed off his playing. I'm inclined to write it off to experience and learn from it. Some friends came to the show and I spoke to them afterwards and several people came up and said how much they enjoyed the show. Must try harder.

First Night

We arrived at the Millfield Theatre in good time to set the stage and do a soundcheck before a dress rehearsal during the afternoon. Our thanks to the Millfield Theatre staff for being so helful and getting the lights just right. Final preparations done, we tried out our stage outfits and then it was curtain up.
Nina looked stunning when she stepped out on to the stage in her Patsy costume and she soon had the audience eating out of her hand. The first set flew by. Willy Kelly made a great impression by singing two Johnny Cash songs followed by one of his own songs.
The second set got underway after a brief interval. Once again Nina's costumes wowed the crowd as she got them all to sing along. Willy's second spot kept the momentum going but all too soon it was over. It was a great night and I believe that we're going to have a great tour.
Oh, and I get to sing two songs.
Next stop- Fairfield Halls, Croydon

Final rehearsals

Final rehearsals took place on Wednesday in Northampton. It was a long long day, especially for Mike & Willy who'd driven over from Sligo, took the ferry to Fishguard and then collected Nina before driving to Northampton. All went well and we were all set for our first night at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton, North London.

Final rehearsal tomorrow at 11 am. The first show is at the Millfield Theatre Edmonton on Thursday. We aim to get there early and have a full dress rehearsal before curtain up.
To say it's been busy is an understatement! Two of us have been burning the midnight oil finishing off studio projects before the tour gets underway and Lee's having to cope with a close relative's terminal illness.
When I post again I'll have some pictures of the band and some of the venues
